Born in 2055 in Laguna Bend, Chio Hiroi led a relatively average life as a child. Taking an interest in music at a young age, she was part of the local school band, making friends with some of the older students who would later introduce her to varying forms of rock. Her life leading up to her preteen years was rather uneventful, and happy. In 2062, when it was revealed the town had been sold out from under its residents, the Hiroi family was one of the ones who stayed to protest the sale. Chio, under the influence from her family and older friends, was one of the more vocal protestors.
One night, Chio snuck out from her home to join her friends in destroying some of the equipment used by the corporation that was set to demolish the town. Though everything seemed to be going according to plan, it was here that she made her first kill. Upon one of her friends being captured and then beaten by NCPD, Chio managed to steal an officer's service weapon, shooting and killing both. Fearing what she had just done, Chio fled the scene and ran home. In the following days, an investigation was conducted but either due to meddling from her friends or sheer luck, no evidence was found against her. This would start to lead her down a more violent path of rebellion and see a massive shift in her attitude and music tastes. Though these violent tendencies would "mellow" over the years, her militant nature is ever extremely present in her music.
Following the destruction of Laguna Bend, Chio developed hydrophobia, something she is not extremely vocal about even now. She would begin to hold impromptu concerts of her music outside protests, political rallies, corporate headquarters, and other locations that would actually garner her a paycheck. In this time, she worked as a mercenary for a small crew made up of her childhood friends. Between funds coming in from gigs and later self-published online albums, Chio would undergo an exotic treatment to give herself more of a "signature." Now 26, Chio has made enough money from her music and various gigs that she was able to afford a moderately high class apartment in City Center (much to the utter disappointment and annoyance of her neighbors, who she quite famously does not get along with in the slightest). Her music is well known in the underground scene and among the goth community, acting as a band of one (herself) named "VALRAVN."
