      • It will protect against glancing shots from firearms, shrapnel, and blunt force.
  • | Functionality |
    • Y0-KA1 masks all function similarly to ballistic masks, albeit fancier and with more features. A breathable, moisture-wicking padding serves to keep the wearer comfortable when wearing the mask and to absorb/dampen the shock and impact directed to the face. A kevlar weave underneath the protective shell serves to prevent penetration from most small-caliber rounds. The glass visor is a HYA-KUM3, designed to be bullet/shatter proof, flash resistant, and tinted to conceal the wearer's identity. All Y0-KA1 masks come equipped with a night vision mode and optimized for low/high light environments. More sophisticated masks can be equipped with alternate vision modes such as thermal, infrared, etc.
    • Each mask is biometrically keyed to the wearer, allowing for only the exclusive individual to be able to access and operate the onboard features. The installed AMAN0-JAKU also regularly reports the wearer's status to the main hub. In the event that the individual's bio sign flatlines or they are rendered unconscious, AMAN0-JAKU alerts the main hub and nearby members of potential danger and can trigger the mask's killswitch to render it completely useless to prevent it from becoming a potential security breach.

    • While it is designed to protect the wearer from small arms fire, it is not impenetrable. A direct hit from a medium caliber or higher weapon, and armor penetrating ammunition is likely to penetrate through the protective layers, not to mention that the impact of a direct hit is likely to knock the wearer out if it doesn't penetrate. Electromagnetic effects can also disrupt the functionality of electronic systems integrated into the mask, rendering it into just a normal ballistic mask. The HYA-KUM3 visor will also hinder the wearer's view if it becomes too severely damaged, making it difficult to see through any extensive cracking or bullet impacts.

RATIONALE AND USAGE

    • Generic Y0-KA1 masks are standard-issue for all members, given to them upon entry into the organization, though it is only a standard, non-modified mask with basic features. It is to be worn whenever any situation arises that would involve combat. It is a statement that shows loyalty and allegiance to Y0-KA1. An individual who proves themselves and their dedication to the organization may undergo Y0-KA1's mask ceremony, crafting a ceramic cover as well as making their own personal modifications to better establish their identity and reputation within the organization.

    • Standard Y0-KA1 masks are given to all members inducted into the organization. It is only when they prove their worth and become officially recognized are their masks tailored to reflect the Yokai that they will go by. Specialized Y0-KA1 masks are tailor-made to suit the wearer and any specialties they may have as well as be modified to provide additional protections.
