Age: 26

Ethnicity: White American

Birthplace: Eureka, CA

Appearance: Bit is a relatively short (5'7), stocky (160lbs, athletic, not buff) man with piercing green eyes and a relaxed, curious demeanor. His pants are usually tan, cuffed around mid-calf. He wears smooth, velcro fastened brown boots with no-show socks. He wears plain, long-sleeve shirts, occasionally wearing brown or green biker jackets. He is normally seen with a coyote brown assault backpack that stores gear and spellbooks.

Background:

Family Ranking: Nomad Pack
Parents: Both living
Childhood Environment: Nomad Pack, traveling town to town

Personality:

To a stranger, Bit is reserved and inquiring. He isn't likely to share information about himself, instead choosing to ask questions of others or remain silent. With a few interactions, he either becomes quite friendly or decides the other person is not worth his time. He's usually quick to identify enemies by their actions or associations. To friends, Bit isn't the center of attention but rather an observant commentator. He's quick to pick up on people's intentions or needs and often ready to hatch plans and share knowledge, but liable to sneak out the backdoor if things get too hot. Underneath his quiet but friendly exterior, he harbors an intense paranoia. The world around Night City fills him with equal parts fascination and horror. He wants to be able to slip into any computer around, but is counting the days until they all go dark. Even though he followed his curiosity and devoted his life's work to netrunning, his nomad roots run deep; his ultimate goals involve creating bubbles of security for his friends and family to find peace and control in the midst of chaos.

  • Person Bit values most: Parent(s)
  • What Bit values most: Love (familial)
  • How Bit feels about most people: People are untrustworthy. Don't depend on anyone.
  • Bit's most valued possession: A musical instrument (duduk)

Friends:

Bit has a past romance. His girlfriend stayed with his nomad family when he was sent to Night City. Whether the relationship is over or not is complicated.

Enemies:

Bit tends to view nomads from other families as enemies until proven otherwise. Bit directly made an enemy when he arrived in Night City: an executive at NetWatch. When he arrived in the City, Bit created a small network of devices on the dark net and attempted to connect them with a distributed network he had built for his family. Connecting from outside the City, the distributed network is invisible to NetWatch, but being unfamiliar with Night City's network, he was detected and NetWatch crashed his family's private network. This left him stranded, cut off from his family and under the close eye of NetWatch.

History:

Bit spent his first 26 years running with a nomad tribe around Northern California and the mountain states. From a young age he showed a knack for computer skills, but was developed into a sharpshooting nomad to support the family business. As a young adult, the family leaders took an interest in Bit's netrunner hobby. He had built a few small private networks for family communication and route security, and finally at the age of 22 he was given permission to devote his full attention netrunning. Their goal was to send him to Night City alone to establish a virtual base of operations and hack into Night City networks providing intel such as police, military, or border patrols and corporate shipping. This info would be shared and secured in a private network Bit built, but he wasn't familiar enough with Night City's demands. NetWatch caught on to the plan as soon as Bit linked the network back to his family, then took control of the network and crashed it. This left Bit stranded in the city, out of contact with the family, no idea where they are, and without a clear next move.
