Name: Pete Gardener
Alias/Handle: Night City Dad
Age: 43
Ethnicity: English
Birthplace: Night City
Appearance: Pete's a well-built man, and has aged fairly naturally. He's got receding brown hair, and a big moustache. He's got friendly blue eyes, and an expressive face. Pete typically dresses in fairly functional, drab gear, such as jean-jackets and checkered shirts.
Background:
Family Ranking: Combat Zone Poor
Parents: Pete's parents were great motivation to be a good parent himself. Between the beatings, the drug use, and the lasseiz-faire attitude to his safety, Pete learned to take care of himself, and vowed to be better.
Childhood Environment: Pete found himself roaming the streets and finding adventure wherever it was. He was hurt badly a few times, physically and emotionally, but always found his way back to the space above the laundry-room that he slept in.
Personality:
Pete is a friendly man, with strong principles. He's anti-corp, anti-gang, and hopes truly for a better tomorrow. His handiness and practical knowledge, combined with genuine wisdom and desire to co-operate, means his kindness is certainly not weakness.Friends:
Pete tries to be friends with everyone! He has some online friends on Virtual Barbecue, but mainly keeps to himself after his wife's death. God bless you, Sandra Kay; you were a treasure. He's got a few friends in Santo Domingo, who he met at church. Finally, he's friends with a few of the other parents at school, as well as the teachers. And of course, he considers his kids Beth and Tim his friends!Enemies:
Any potential negative influences on his kids make Pete's shitlist, be they corp, bureaucrat, or just plain mean.Lifepath / Role:
SoloThough Pete's been a law-abiding citizen, being a keen father in Night City has given him strong instincts for danger. His Combat Sense has been mainly defensive, but now? Now, the lifestyle has called him to apply it proactively!
Skills:
NCD's excellent at DIY! He can do almost any small, easy repairs, so long as it's more hardware than software. As a father, and a good friend to many, NCD's empathy and advice tends to always be constructive and helpful.
The school run has given NCD good knowledge of routes and shortcuts through town, with impressive street knowledge.
Below NCD's polite demeanour, Salt Peter's savagery still lives... deep down, somewhere.
Language(s):
English and ASL, with a couple words in Spanish.Cyberware:

NCD's packing a Teen Dreem pistol, that his kids assured him was all the rage... and no other firearm.A general toolbelt, and a small carry-bag of equipment such as walkie-talkies and a burner phone, act as NCD's... actually rather practical set of goods. He went to a protest, once, and survived, so he knows what he's doing.
A bulletproof vest and a helmet is sure to help him survive! NCD wears pretty casual clothing, generic everyday stuff; lumberjack-style shirts and plain pants. Dad fashion!
History:
Pete grew up the abused son of two drug-addicted Combat Zoners. Surviving with a pack of kids who roamed together, NCD watched friends come and go, but maintained those bonds well enough to get to say goodbye a few times. Known as "Salt Peter" in a few circles, he was a rambunctious youth, with a green mohawk. That's when he met Sadie Kay.
My god. Those eyes, that hair. Her friendly demeanour. He doesn't regret breaking that cop's nose for a second. They got away, he shaved bald, and... a new life started. One in her shitty apartment. For the first time, life was... quiet. He got a stable job, he got a car loan, he got married... he was happy.
Nobody could help the disease coming. The doctors legitimately did the best they could. And so did Pete; he was a good dad, and worked hard at his jobs; remote work as a receptionist and helpdesk for a few businesses, like a construction store and a motel. When he got made redundant, he was upset, but... understood. And he asked his kids what he should do, for a new job; they always had such good ideas, after all.
Tim suggested Edgerunner. Pete said... no, it's too dangerous. Beth saw the hesitation, and the momentary shine in her dad's eyes, and outvoted him; risk is what got him Sadie, and what got him them. And, hell, learning from Beth? Pete had done so much for others, that it was time to prioritise his own dreams.
